In September 2019, New World Engineering, LLC introduced the EADPF (Electrically Assisted Diesel Particulate Filter) to fit straight truck bobtail TRUs (<23hp). This EADPF Level 3 filter was sold through 2022 and was designed to meet the CARB requirements for straight truck Transport Refrigeration Units (TRUs) that are at least 7 years old and operate in California.
NWE, LLC has ceased sales of truck TRU filters as of October 2022 due to the new California Air Resources Board regulatory requirements resulting from the 2022 amendments to the Airborne Toxic Control Measure for In-Use Diesel-Fueled Transport Refrigeration Units (TRU) and TRU Generator Sets, and Facilities Where TRUs Operate (2022 Amendments) which became effective October 1, 2022. Briefly, beginning in 2023, you will need to replace 1/7 of your straight truck reefer fleet each year, for the next 7 years, with an all-electric reefer unit. NWE, LLC will continue to support all of the installed truck TRU filters through December 31, 2029 which is the date that you will have converted all of your truck TRU’s to all-electric. We will stock service repair parts and also are able to bake/clean your existing truck TRU filters if they become clogged with soot and unable to clean itself.
